So Are You a Nintendo Wii lover?
By: J.Morgan
There are only two kinds of people in the world—those who love Nintendo Wii and those who don’t know about it. And of course there might be some who have heard about it but haven’t had the opportunity to actually gather more information about it or use it. We are here to solve the first of these problems. Nintendo Wii is the latest, coolest console from Nintendo. It is expected to give a tough time to competitors Sony and Microsoft. Since its release, Nintendo Wii has gained a huge following for a lot of reasons.
Nintendo’s fifth such product to hit the market, the Wii is the smallest in size. It is only 44 mm (1.72 in) wide and 157 mm (6.18 in) tall and 215.4mm (8.48 in) deep. This is roughly 3 DVDs cases stacked one on top of the other.
At the time when it was launched, Nintendo Wii’s name raised people curiosity. Then Ninentendo sought to make clear that the same of the console was only ‘Wii’ and not ‘Nintendo Wii’. So this is also the first console without the Nintendo brand name attached to it. Not the company has given quite a few reasons for this.
The first and the most popular reason is that Wii which stand for “we” denotes everyone, everybody. This goes to say that the console has been designed for no one in particular, but everyone who wants to use it—from children to their parents or grandparents, the Wii is a great buy for everyone, irrespective of their age groups. The two ‘i’s denote two people standing together—Nunchuck and Remote.
It took long years of research before Wii was launched. The production finally began in 2001, which coincides with the production of Nintendo’s GameCube. Finally when the Wii was completed and launched the demand for the product already far exceeded the supply, in North America. Ever since then Nintendo Wii’s sales have been consistently higher than other players in the market. The console is popular with people from all age groups and backgrounds. It has created a major buzz inn all sectors of the gaming world.
As has been said earlier, the Wii does not cater to consumers from a particular age group. This special quality makes its appealing to a much wider consumer group and hence increases the demand. The games are especially designed to keep the entire family engaged and hooked on. Video games are usually thought to encourage idleness and have connotations of encouraging laziness and inactivity. Wii seeks dispel them all. Many of its game encourage the family to work out together hence promoting a healthier life style and fitness levels. To get its players in action is one of the basic aims of Wii.
Based on these factors and many others it is not difficult to understand why Nintendo Wii is the hottest thing in the world of gaming. People are scrambling to get their personal Wii and the fan base of the console is increasing on a daily basis. And rightfully so!
